Information Systems & Resource Analysis Division
The Information Systems and Resource Analysis Division is responsible for developing and managing the information systems of the State Land Department including its network, hardware, software, web sites, enterprise business and geographic information systems (GIS). The Division is also responsible for administering the Arizona Land Resources Information System (ALRIS) and State Cartographer's Office (SCO) programs which provide state wide support for developing and managing GIS in Arizona.
Information Systems Section
The Information Systems (IS) Section provides support for the development and management of the Department’s information technology resources. The Section develops and manages the Department’s computer network including its data communications, servers, and data storage systems. It also manages the Department’s PCs and desktop software and provides user support for Department staff in their varied use of information technology resources. The Section develops and manages the Department’s enterprise business system, which contains the records related to the status and management of the Arizona State Trust lands. This includes information on title, leasing, sales, management status and billing related to the Trust Lands.
The GIS Section & ALRIS Program
The GIS Section develops and manages the Department’s enterprise GIS system. The Section also provides user training and technical support for the use of GIS in managing the State Trust Lands. The ALRIS Program was established to assist government agencies in Arizona in the use of GIS technology. ALRIS creates and maintains geo-spatial data layers and distributes them to public agencies throughout the state through the AZGeo clearinghouse. It also provides limited technical assistance to public agencies in the use and development of GIS technology.
The State Cartographer's Office
The SCO was created by the Legislature to provide the framework for coordinated development of GIS technology in Arizona through the development of standards, facilitation of cooperative efforts, and improvement of access to geo-spatial databases. It also oversees and administers the Arizona Geographic Information Council.
